Who, more or who less with basic notions of organic positioning (SEO), will have read about backlinks. Currently, backlinks or links are still essential in the organic positioning (SEO). A study of 15,000 keywords by Moz found that 99.2% of websites that indexed in the top 50 results had at least one link pointing to their website. This does not mean that it is impossible to position a web page without external links, although it is true that it will be difficult for competing keywords to position for them without external links.
Why are backlinks important?
Backlinks mainly help with three things:
Search engines like Google see backlinks as votes of confidence. Generally speaking, the more votes your web pages have, the more likely they are to rank for relevant search queries.
How do we know? We’ve studied link-based ranking factors on a few occasions and we always find the same thing: the number of unique website back`links (referring domains) is strongly correlated with organic search traffic.
Search engines find new content by checking the pages they already know for new links.
Because search engines revisit popular pages more often than unpopular ones, they may discover your content faster if you get backlinks from those pages.
Backlinks exist to direct people to useful resources. That is why they are clickable.
You get referral traffic every time someone clicks on a link to your website.
What makes a good backlink?
Not all backlinks are the same. Here are some of the many attributes that contribute to the quality and usefulness of a backlink.
Google values relevant backlinks more because people are more likely to click on them. This is something they talk about in their “reasonable browser” patent.
What does this mean in real terms? If a plumber has backlinks from two pages, one about cats and one about boiler installation, the latter is most likely the most valuable.

Readers of plumbing.com are more likely to click a link to a plumber’s website than readers of cats.com.
Strong web page backlinks tend to transfer more “authority” than weak page backlinks.
Authority at the page level is something we have studied several times, and we have found a clear relationship between it and organic traffic.
Backlinks from high-traffic pages will generally send you more referral traffic than backlinks from low-traffic pages. That’s obvious. The real question is whether backlinks from high-traffic pages positively affect rankings more than those from low-traffic pages.
This is a question that we tried to answer recently. We took the top positions of 44,589 unbranded keywords and looked at organic traffic from pages that link to them.
How to build backlinks?
As you already know, Google analyzes the number of backlinks and the quality of these links to determine the importance of a website.
Consequently, SEO experts go to great lengths to get more backlinks for their clients.
But there are good and bad ways to achieve this.
Building quality backlinks takes a lot of effort and time. This is not a one-and-done operation.
This requires consistency. Some examples of proper backlink building include:
Guest Posting / Blogging: Are there quality websites dedicated to your industry that accept guest articles? Try contacting them with the offer of a free article on a relevant topic in exchange for a line with a link to your website. Newspaper articles: journalists and writers are always looking for experts to contribute citations for their papers. Some (but not all) will include backlinks to their sources' websites. Websites like HARO and ProfNet help you connect with journalists with specific needs, while other tools allow you to send exciting presentations to writers. Local citations: Address lists on Google, Yelp, Facebook, Yellow Pages, and elsewhere count as backlinks and help customers find your business. Comments / Blog Profiles / Forums: Commenting on blogs and forums used to be a great way to build backlinks. While this approach is no longer as robust as it once was (due in part to frequent abuse), providing support in industry-specific forums, as well as sites like Quora, can help build backlinks and awareness about your site. Press Releases - These are published on many news sites with backlinks to your site. Directories - While the value of web directories has dropped dramatically, you can generate worthwhile backlinks by submitting your website to local, industry-specific, and niche directories. Business Network Profiles: LinkedIn profiles, for example, allow you to post your URL and other industry networking sites. Reciprocal links: these are link
‘an eye for an eye’; your friend has a website that links to yours, and your website links to your friend’s site. While some view reciprocal links as effective, they are in the gray area where they can be used honestly and exclusively to improve Google’s ranking. Be careful.
Social Media – You just can’t ignore the value of social media. And even at the basic level of backlinks, there is minimal value, as social media sites display the URL of a profile owner’s website. However, since Facebook and some other networks do not allow Google crawlers to index profile pages, the backlinks from these networks will not directly affect Google SERPs.
Internal site links: Links from one page on your site to another count as backlinks. Technically, internal site links are not backlinks, but internal links can help increase the ranks of your internal web pages for certain keywords when used appropriately.
Donations: Donating your time or money to local charities, organizations, and schools can be an effective way to get backlinks.
