The 14-inch size is convenient for those looking for a large screen without being too bulky and heavy on the go. If you look at the weight of the MagicBook, 1.3 kilos, it can be said that it is very regular and light but without standing out in this feature like the LG Gram. It feels heavy when you grab it, but it still fits nicely in a backpack. Its dimensions (409 x 283 x 72 mm) are very manageable, similar to a file folder.

Despite being a team designed for young people, it is made of aluminum, a slightly darker gray color than silver, even on the keyboard. The only things that break the understated aesthetic are the Honor letters engraved on the lid and the subtle border that adorns the blue screen, a cheerful tone that gives it a youthful air.
Are you gifted in connections? It has everything most users need: a USB and a 3.5mm jack on the right and a USB-C, USB-A, and HDMI on the left. Like most laptops, it does not have a LAN input to connect the computer to the router via ethernet cable, something always interesting since you avoid Wi-Fi network drops and work faster, among other advantages.

It is student-oriented, yes, but it is not only for education but also ideal for leisure.

The keyboard surface (backlit) is pleasant to the touch and roomy enough to work comfortably, with a decent-sized trackpad. The device comes with a circular fingerprint reader and performs well and fast. It is a feature that increasingly tends to be included in this type of device, although not so much in models with a price as affordable as this one. The keys have made transcribing texts comfortable because they are not burdensome (not very soft).

Honour has mounted a panel with a Full HD resolution (1,920 x 1,080) and a screen ratio of 84 percent. So far, everything is very normal. What I like the most about it is matte, a feature I prefer to work with. The bright ones are eye-catching, avoid reflections and eye fatigue (because they are more recommended for professional laptops), and look better outdoors. It is not perfect either; you will not get rid of it reflecting what is in front of it when the light hits it.
Performance and battery
Equipped with the mid-range AMD Ryzen 5 3500U processor – it would be the equivalent of an Intel Core i5 – 8G GB of RAM and 256 GB of SSD storage, works as expected in daily tasks with word processors, spreadsheets, photo editing, and others undemanding uses. With integrated Radeon Vega 8 graphics, it is a computer that is not designed for gaming, and that does not mean that it is not enough to play games. When scrolling through the applications and browsing the internet, it responds quickly, with nothing to object to. In addition, the ventilation system is not noisy at any time.

The energy management has pleasantly surprised me. This equipment is at the height of other more expensive in this section. Its autonomy reaches 12 hours in video playback with brightness at a medium level. This same test with the maximum brightness went down at 10 hours, and it’s still good. The most advanced feature (even compared to high-end laptops) is its fast charge: in 40 minutes, you get 50 percent autonomy. To fill it takes up to an hour and a half, an excellent time, the best I’ve tried lately. It is recharged via USB-C with a 65 W adapter about the same size as a mobile phone.
Special features
Like the Huawei MateBook X Pro, this Honor laptop camouflages the webcam in the keyboard, which is excellent for making sure no one spies on you and protecting your privacy. It is unusual and not very flattering since it is aimed directly at the chin and jowls. The quality is also not particularly good, 720p. The image looks a bit blurry. Of course, it is more than enough to communicate with your teacher or your boss.

Another unique feature of the MagicBook 14 is the Honor Magic Link function that allows you to connect Honor and Huawei phones (not all models) with the laptop with a simple touch instantly. It is instrumental and speedy to transfer the photos and videos you take with the smartphone (I have tried it with a Huawei P30 Pro). It also makes it easy to control apps and files on your phone with your laptop (e.g., Spotify) and answer calls, among other uses.
