Xiaomi has a vast ecosystem of products in its catalog. So much so that in its physical stores we can find everything from mobile phones to rice cookers, through backpacks and all kinds of accessories. One of the most valued products is its intelligent vacuum cleaners, devices with an exciting value for money. In recent weeks we have been able to test the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum-Mop 2C, a mid-range vacuum cleaner on the way between the most regular vacuum cleaners that sweep randomly and the most expensive ones that have laser tracking.
This device is the first we analyzed with an intermediate system, and we will tell you what we found.
Cleaning and duration of it
Using vacuum cleaners with laser tracking, I was struck by how they clean, creating S-shaped patterns while creating the house map. It’s a sure way not to miss any corners, but sometimes it seemed that it did not detect some objects because they collided especially hard. other times, it was not like that, and he braked before approaching a wall.
The cleaning speed is lower than that of other models because it has only one side brush, not two as usual. Yes, the suction power and the brush used are similar to other vacuum cleaners.
This single side brush is in charge of moving the dirt so that the roller houses it inside the vacuum cleaner. The roller is the same as other models but takes a little longer than other alternatives.
Even so, it is not at all problematic, having cleaned one of the floors of my house, about 40 m2 that can be vacuumed, in just under an hour. Highlight here the height of the wheels, which allows it to pass through specific furniture legs without problem, something possible because it does not have the typical protrusion of laser vacuum cleaners.
Regarding cleaning with water, say that we have not had any problems and that it is used to clean regularly, but of course, there are scenarios in which it is not possible to use this type of device. Of course, the water dosage control does it more precisely than in previous models, although it is not that we have been able to verify it.
A simple but very effective application
This vacuum cleaner’s application is Xiaomi Home, the same one used in many other brand devices, such as the intelligent radiator we tested a few months ago.
In it, we can control the suction power of the device and even use the mobile as a remote control, as there is none in the sales box.
But the essential thing is mapping. Unlike cheaper vacuum cleaners, it can create a map of the area to be cleaned, although it does not save it by default.
A camera to see where you are going
This vacuum cleaner does not have a laser radar capable of mapping rooms, but it does use a camera to know where it is going and to create a map of the area to be cleaned.
That’s why it’s not as accurate as those laser models, but it’s not as expensive. It uses a system of 15 sensors of various types to navigate intelligently.
The camera, located at the top, has an angle of 166º, something necessary given its location. It can detect thousands of points per second to know where it is. The strange thing is that, despite that, sometimes it collides with force in some elements.
Of course, the brand itself indicates that there is good light in the cleaning areas since, unlike radars, darkness affects the camera’s precision.
In our tests, it has sometimes had to go through rooms with no light, with closed blinds, and there have been no problems.
Autonomy
The vacuum cleaner has a charging base with a power cable. That cable is hooked on the right side, not allowing it to come out the other side, something that we have seen at some time, and it seems to us a success to not have much loose cable, as seen in the photo above.
As we have said, the vacuum cleaner has cleaned 40 m2 in an hour, using 56% of the battery.
On one occasion, we tried to speed up the autonomy, and we realized that if the battery drops a lot, it returns to the charging base, and when it reaches 80%, it resumes cleaning where it had left off, something perfect if we are away from home.
Conclusion: the middle ground
This vacuum cleaner can be purchased at the time of its launch for less than 240 euros. This price is slightly higher than straightforward vacuum cleaners, which are close to 200 euros, but it cleans much better than them.
Laser vacuum cleaners are indeed at another level in precision but also in price.
To give you an idea, this type of camera vision vacuum cleaner is the mid-range of these products. They are perfect for most and, although there are better ones, they are not worth the price increase.
As a promotional offer, we can buy this model for about 202 euros for a few hours if we use the SDMI24 coupon and access this link.
