In December of last year, the new Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 tablet was presented, so today, we can go through the analysis for one that can be purchased in Spain for 279 euros. One of those devices becomes the entertainment center for the family at home. And it is precisely where we can better understand this new tablet from the Korean technology giant.
A cheap tablet that fits well in hand without much thickness and with just enough bezels to leave almost all the space for the screen. Screen with TFT technology is not the best these days as we are so used to OLED panels, but when one gets used to it, the truth is that it performs flawlessly in many ways.
Also, thanks to this element, the price does not become more expensive, and the Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 becomes an ideal device for the home. That said, it is a tablet with which we can play games, make photo edits, multitask to have two apps divided on the screen, or enjoy the series from the different streaming platforms.
It is pretty light in weight to be manageable, so at first, it has offered us good sensations without further ado or highlighting any element. In other words, it stands out at a general level for all the experience it provides, but don’t expect the best performance, a great photo, or a video call that stands out for its quality.
It has its limitations, and it is also in the price so that the elements are necessary for any family member to cover their different needs.
Design
If we compare this tablet to the Galaxy Tab S7 FE, there are significant differences as it happens in the design. Here the back is almost entirely flat aside from the Samsung logo at the top left, that single camera lens sitting like a secluded island in the top right, and the stripe at the top that we can quickly identify with.
We’re back to the bezels, which don’t take up much space to leave a basic designed tablet, though the material for the finish puts it in a great place with that metallic matte touch.
In other words, if it receives some directional light, it is when that elegant and straightforward design appears to distance it from other more basic materials and concepts.
Performance
One UI is present, although not with Android 12, to witness a fair and adequate experience so that the notification panel or quick settings appear on one of the upper sides when we have the tablet in landscape mode.
The interface on the Galaxy Tab A8
The same thing happens with the Edge panel that we have to activate it yes or yes to access the apps we usually use the most so that we have those accesses from one of the sides.
One UI 3 on the Galaxy Tab A8
In the version that Samsung has left us, with 128 GB of internal storage and 4 GB of RAM, the performance has been as expected without any slowdown in some of the actions that we have done.
gaming performance
We will also not go into much of the gaming capabilities of the Galaxy Tab A8, allowing them to enjoy Rise of Cultures on a 10.5″ screen.
These types of experiences are there so that anyone in the family can play some good games; However, having the Unisoc Tigre T618 chip, we are already quite limited if we want to take the graphic settings to the maximum in games like PUBG: New State or Genshin Impact.
But for the rest, it works perfectly, so any of those basic Android games from studios like Supercell are too scary to be enjoyed on that giant screen.
Screen
The screen is 10.5″ with FullHD+ resolution and TFT technology, which, as we mentioned before, is not the best, but it is capable of covering what we want to watch series, play games, edit photos or shoot TikTok at some point.
The bezels surrounding the front screen are not wide enough, leaving us with a good screen ratio so that we almost have the feeling of being nearly all screen.
TFT panel for the Galaxy Tab A8
It also allows to increase the brightness, so to place tions in which we have the sun on our back, he responds, although always with its limitations due to the type of panel used with that TFT technology.
Autonomy
Its biggest but is the 15 W charge that will take a long time to charge the 7,040 mAh battery. After this slight handicap, the autonomy is quite good without us getting any nasty surprises, so we have a tablet that, well used, spends the whole day charging.
Samsung Galaxy Tab A8
Of course, charging takes more than two hours, so pay attention to this point; although it is usually quite normal for a device of this type, it is one of its buts that can be overcome if we look at everything from another perspective. What it offers us at its price.
