Amazon announced on Tuesday (20) the opening of a hairdressing salon in London, UK, which uses augmented reality (AR) technology to show a preview of hair coloring.
The company’s experimental store has augmented reality for customers to view hair coloring.
A wall-mounted tablet uses a front camera to show customers the results in different colors.
The store will also test “point and learn” technology, in which people will be able to indicate a product they are interested in “to learn more information and purchase options”.
Access to the salon will initially be restricted to company employees, but other customers will be granted entry “in the coming weeks,” according to a statement.
Amazon, the online retail giant, has physical stores in the United States and the United Kingdom that allow customers to make purchases without checking out.
The company stated, however, that this is an “experimental store” where it will display new products and technologies and there are no plans to open new salons.
