I want to clarify that there are several versions according to different countries. Apart from differing in connectivity, the customization layer also varies. For this reason, I recommend buying the Global version if you opt for this smartphone. An exciting novelty of this smartphone is that it can be purchased with the control that connects via Bluetooth called “GamePad,” which is quite helpful if we play optimized games. If we buy it separately, the price is 49 euros. However, some stores sell the entire pack at a very competitive price. Recently, Black Shark has released a new “GamePad 2.0” that consists of two pieces to be able to play much more comfortably and to be able to enjoy the entire screen of the device. I leave the link to the new accessory that also offers compatibility with the said smartphone. The smartphone comes in a black box with the manufacturer’s logo, Black Shark, on the back. On the sides and, in the same color, it has the name of the terminal.
On the back is a sticker showing the box contents and the version of the smartphone in question. In addition, it has the European Conformity seals, recycling, and the IMEI numbers corresponding to the SIMs.
As you lift the lid, there is cardboard with a text in English that says: “Welcome to the rebellion!! And a phrase is thanking you for trusting the brand. When removing the cardboard, the smartphone is covered with translucent paper, like onion skin, to prevent it from being scratched. Underneath there is a small box, like an envelope, where the instruction manual is, the address of the company in Europe, a screen protector, the pin to access the nano SIM cards, and a kind of black plastic casing you can see in the pictures. This case, despite not being a complete cover, will most likely prevent the smartphone from slipping out of your hands and thus protect it to a certain extent from falls. In addition, it will be what fixes the “GamePad” to the smartphone.
Xiaomi Black Shark : Design and Screen
A careful front design reminds me of the Xiaomi Mi6 with that touch button centered at the bottom, which hides the fingerprint reader. This seems accurate to me, but I think it lacks some speed. I will leave you a video so you can see and check the sensor yourself.
As for the rear, this Black Shark is unlike anything we’ve seen. Despite having other “gaming smartphones” such as the Razer Phone, Asus ROG Phone, or the Nubia Red Magic, this Black Shark has maintained a very “gaming” aesthetic with its green colors, backlighting, and its shapes that make this smartphone impressive.
It is made with aluminum and plastic alloys to give this smartphone the purest “gaming” theme. It has a “unibody” body that makes it impossible to replace the battery without disassembling the smartphone and losing any warranty that we could have.
It is not a tiny smartphone; it has dimensions of 75.4 mm long x 161.1 mm high x 9.3 mm thick. As I picked it up, I realized the weight, which is that it has a weight of 190 grams, so it seemed strange to me as I was not used to such heavy smartphones. On the other hand, the terminal fits perfectly in hand, facilitating its handling and holding.
Despite not having the best screen, it has a 5.99-inch IPS LCD with a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels. The density of pixels per inch is 403, and it has a brightness of 550 nits that makes it look great, even in the midday sun. It is not a current smartphone, it has been on the market for a while, and as I said, it reminds me of the Xiaomi Mi6 with those margins on the screen that make the valuable area 77%. I think it uses a distinguished panel with good viewing angles, and I practically do not miss an “Amoled type” screen.
The screen is covered with Corning Gorilla Glass to give it a certain hardness against possible falls.
A minor flaw I have found is that you will not be able to use polarized sunglasses with this screen in a vertical position since you will not see anything.
As I said, the front has a screen with a large frame. At the top is a Hi-Fi call speaker, which also works in stereo mode. I have to say that after reading a lot about this Black Shark and seeing different reviews in which they put the audio as a “black point” of this smartphone, I have not seen it bad at all. Indeed, the maximum sound is not as loud as it should be, but it is undoubtedly limited so that it does not distort. On the left side of the speaker is the selfie camera, and on the other is the notification LED.
Multi-color cations, an ambient light sensor, and a front LED flash. At the bottom, there are three capacitive buttons. As I have already mentioned, the central one will be the “home” in addition to the fingerprint reader, the one on the left will be the back one, and the one on the right, the menu one.
On the right side is the typical button panel with the lock and elongated buttons to raise and lower the volume. On the left is the tray for the dual nano SIMs card and a sliding switch to access the “game panel” that this “gaming” smartphone incorporates.
In the lower part, centered is the USB type C. On the right is the Hi-FI speaker, which, as I have told you, I think has the excellent quality, and on the left side is the microphone. The top side is empty.
On the back of the device is the dual primary camera placed horizontally with a dual dual-tone LED flash that is quite central. In the center of the device is the logo of the brand backlit in green, which will be activated when receiving calls. The device’s name is right at the bottom, making symmetry with the cameras.
